I think it is a kernel panic but the display is locked with the GUI.
No messages are displayed. It is what ever image was on screen as it
crashes. I try to ssh in with no luck. Mouse and keyboard do nothing.
I restart and I don't see anything in the logs about what happened.

I have a Fast Track Pro USB audio device which has stopped capturing sound
using ALSA.
When trying to capture, arecord claims the format S24_3BE is not supported:
$ arecord -D hw:Pro,1 -f S24_3BE -c2 -r48000 -t wav test.wav
Recording WAVE 'test.wav' : Signed 24 bit Big Endian in 3bytes, Rate
Kernel panic perhaps?
