Actually, the ASIO4ALL driver is hardware independent, and it does not
provide mixer controls as well. So I guess we wont get them working.
The point is that windows drivers provide good input levels.
I get good output levels in linux, but barely unaudible input signals. That
is frustrating.

I'm an owner of a RME HDSP RPM external sound card having trouble to
make it run under linux.
My machine is running Ubuntu 11.04 (32bit) with a 2.6.38 kernel. Since
my card doesn't seem supported by the alsa driver shipped with Ubuntu, I
compiled alsa-driver and alsa-tools from the git rep

after some further research into the matter, it seems I have to do some
asynchronous capture/playback with ALSA.
I have searched for examples and found this site:
http://alumnos.elo.utfsm.cl/~yanez/alsa-sample-programs/
where two example programs are included.
microphone.c and speaker
QasTools version 0.17.0 is available.
QasTools is a collection of dektop applications for ALSA.
Changes:
* all: setting names for state save/restore changed/regrouped
* all: smart main window sizeHint() to get a useable window
size after leaving fullscreen
* all: new common info dialo

The kahlua driver is not an ALSA driver, but its initialization works
