I'm currently struggling to get alsa configured to work with my M2N-sli
motherboard and webcam pro 9000 plugged together.
Currently I've got some success by using generic codec. Whenever I enable
'analog' codec my speakers go silent in kde, but if I unplug webcam it works.

the patch that I posted works for the Fast Track Ultra 8R. Both patches

I discover that snd_ml403_ac97cr_probe function is not called after module
ml403_ac97cr is init. Are there bugs in platform_driver_register function?
(platform_driver_register function is call in alsa_card_ml403_ac97cr_init)

has flaws, e.g. 44100 Hz don't work, there's no mixer support although
the mixer seems to behave mostly like a standard USB mixer.
So before the Alsa developers adopt it in the main line some things have
to be worked out.

Please create a patch according to [1] (use `git format-patch` and `git
send-email`) and submit it to alsa-devel and the maintainers [2].
