Just to follow up on this prior post, I have now tried 3 different
LiveCD based distributions that use ALSA and I get the same results on
all of them. I also have not found any reports of anyone successfully
passing through AC3 data from the Nvidia MCP51 online... this seems

Ah, nevermind you guys, I just got the answer on IRC.
I have to run:
alsamixer -c 0
to get all the controls and then set Center/LFE Jack to Front Output or
Mixer Output.
