I'm trying to build 1.0.18a on Ubuntu 8.10 in order to get HDMI audio
output on my Acer X1200. However, after building the drivers, lib,
utils, and tools packages (plugins fails to compile for me - working
with the debian package guys on that), I load the snd-hda-intel driver
and see the following
I have an ASUS M3N78-VM motherboard with onboard nVidia audio,
including HDMI audio output. My goal is to send all audio output over
the HDMI connector, eventually passing ac3 to a stereo. I'm trying
out a recent version of sound-2.6.git for the support of the nVidia
HDMI codec and have compiled

For example, here: http://www.futurlec.com/ICSFOthers.shtml one can see
that DACs are $2.40 ..

I think you are somewhat confused. ALSA is a low level

Huh ?
People have already answered you how to avoid resampling.
I suggest

Machines can do the work, so people have time to think.

So, ALSA, as well as many Linux applications, have a choice of qualities for
resampling, and I bet you won't hear the difference between middle and high
quality.
There is no "OS resampling", resampling is

The DAC doesn't matter for ALSA and its settings, but your soundc
It's not the first time perfect bits are discussed here.
Last time I managed to stop the fruitless discussion part by reminding that any
CD with 44100Hz sample rate is produced from material sample at much higher
sample rate, and quality resampling is used.
So, rather than being afaraid of resamp

BTW, Benchmark has very nice instructions for getting bit-perfect output, but
only for Windows and Mac:

Foobar2000 is a great player for Windows, which have complete configuration

Hello,
I´m new to the list and I hope somebody can help me
I´d like to output several instances (I have a 8-channel soundcard) of flash
based streaming.
Actually I´m running 8 instances of mplayer at the same time in a loop
(automatic reconnect) for windows, real or winamp streaming formats.
Hello,
I have the following problem. The machine I use works under fedora 7 with
the configuration specified at
http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=93964b2ec68d1f912509bb1ac2ee02a5163ec4a1
somehow this is working despite the error
