I am using cards with C-Media chipset (CMI 8770). I have HT Omega Striker
7.1 and Auzen X-Plosion 7.1 Cinema. These cards can provide individual
volume control (5.1 uncompressed playback mode) in Windows but I could not
find such control in ALSA. The vendor says they are unable to help. Any

Yep, that is the device. I think alsa recognizes it as two separate
usb-

Jack starts normally, with only two outputs, though.

I just bought an M-Audio Fast Track Pro usb audio interface. As far as I
know, it is a standard compliant usb-audio device. I could get two separate
devices (hw:1,0 and hw:1,1) and use them with aplayer simultaneously.
Although, I cannot start Jack (in Ubutu 8.04 with studio packages) with
