Hi
I'm having a problem with my sound card on a Dell Inspiron 1420n laptop.
The sound card is an Intel ICH8 chip (lscpi -vv below). The problem is
this: at startup, or after resuming from hibernate (suspend-to-disk), no
sound is heard. If I remove the snd_hda_intel module and reload it,
sound work
I know what you mean Luka. I have the exact same problem. Hope someone can help
us here.

Hello,
I have no idea about the AD1984a. But, actually, I have an AD1986a,
which works fine with the snd_hda_intel modul.
Perhaps this information helps you ...

Hello list,
I got a loopback device by doing "modproble snd-aloop".
I can send audio to "hw:1,0" and the reads that audio from "hw:1,1" successful.
But now, I need a second loopback device. How can I up that second device?
I mean, I would like to get something like "hw:2,0", "hw:2,1", etc...

Hello,
Does alsa-driver-1.0.15 support Analog Device's AD1984a? I found AD1985
is listed as supported soundcard, I loaded the driver, but still no sound. I am
running SuSE SLED 10 SP1 2.6.16-46-0.12 kernel.
Thanks in advance
Michael

Rene,
Thanks a bunch! My problem was solved immediately. I've created two lines to
force indexes for both cards in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base (Debian
GNU/Linux).

I have no jack sense in my mixer control. I've checked all the controls
for the card to be visible on the Volume control but have only IEC958,
Caller ID and Off-Hook options in the "Switches" tab.

The module loaded,
I also noticed another thing... my kernel spews out something when I try to
load ca0106 although the module loads finally:
cannot find the slot for index 0 (range 0-0), error: -16
CA0106: probe of :01:06.0 failed with error -12

I have two soundcards. One's an snd_hda_intel and the other is a ca0106.
Both were working fine and I had even set up pulseaudio to move streams b/w
the cards on the fly. Now, ca0106 has suddenly stopped working- so I ran an
alsa-info.sh script to help me diagnose the problem. The output [
