I'm trying to use amidi to save sysexes from my USB keyboard controller. I
initiate the sysex by hitting the buttons on the controller. Data is definitely
getting sent by the keyboard controller, ALSA is receiving it, and aseqdump
shows it, but amid
Got a new laptop (HP dv6245) which has the above
mentionned sound chip.
I can play audio fine.
I cannot get SPDIF to work.
Capture from either built-in mic, or ext mic is
horribly noisy.
I also can't get jack to switch the audio to 44.1k.
I suspect driver problems, since my M-Audio Transit

But will this still allow ALSA to revert to the laptop speakers when the
card is not plugged in? And will it work when the index of the card

You may look for settings like "playback buffer" or "buffer size".
One option you might try is running jackd with a buffer size of 512 or

jackd PCM and set it as the default PCM.

Can anyone recommend a USB (or Firewire) soundcard which is definitely
capable of 5.1 surround output?
After a lot of fiddling trying to make my onboard chip output 5.1
(hda-intel, AD1986A chip on Asus A8N-VM CSM motherboard) I'm finally
thinking of giving up on that and using an external card.
