I've got a MAXDATA ECO 4000IW, which has an ICH6-chipset. It offers a jack
for a microphone and a jack for headphones, which is used as a S/PDIF out
additionally.
My problem is, that I can't get the S/PDIF out to work. I'm not able to
switch the jack between analog and S/PDIF.

i have a problem i can't solve when recording a pcm.
When i record a pcm, i get old data prior to getting the one i just
recorded...
How can i tell alsa-lib that it has to not use previous data that are in
the (driver ?) buffer ?

after having upgraded two SuSE 10.0 installations, i have the problem on a
desktop that only the root has sound, and on the Laptop that the microphone
