There is no such module as snd-pcm1-oss. Only snd-pcm-os

Hi!
I have an M-Audio Delta 44 sound card with Envy 24 chip. Unlike many
other sound cards, this one has a bunch of separate channels in the
mixer. Not any kind of master volume control which would control volume
on all output channels. I'd rather use the card for playing stereo audio

Does this card YMF744 Yamaha chip support AC3 passthrough with alsa? I
tried many combinations of ways to get it to output Ac3, but all I ended
up with was static, PCM out the optical port was OK, AC3 passthrough out
on my AL655 is OK too..
It apparently works in windows. ac3dec and mplaye

Hi,
I have found some strange behaviour of the three programs above (using
different AC97 codecs):
1. start kamix or gamix, select the "lock" for capture channel
start alsamixer or kmix, and select a different capture channel -> both
channels get switched
2. quit kamix/gamix, select a differen

"snd_" prefix in module options is deprecated. Pass "index=#".
Also, "options snd-card-4 ..." seems not working on 2.6
module-init-tools (at the last time I tried). It has to be a real
module name like snd-usb-audio.
So will it work to do two lines for the same module:

If it is a connection (and not) sound problem, then it's
a wrong forum to ask.
I personally am just a Skype user anyway, so I do not know how
to resolve connection problems.
Netstat ?
Nettop ?
Skype has good forums, including Linux on
I did these two things, however after I log in I cannot connect to

I do two things:
1) disable ALL alsa applications like 'ams', 'alsaplayer', etc., but do
leave 'alsamixer' open;
2) run Skype as

Hi to all,
I have a general technical question :
With low latency kernel and related stuff I typically run my soundcard with
48kHz and 128 Samples/frame.
What surprises me is the fact that in case of using 8kHz only I still can't
lower the framsize to values below 128. 64 or 32 don't work at all
I do two things:
1) disable ALL alsa applications like 'ams', 'alsaplayer', etc., but do
leave 'alsamixer' open;
2) run Skype as

Hello All,
I'm using my ES1868 with Alsa on Slackware Linux 10.2, and I can't make
Skype work. I can't even record with krec. I notice that snd-pcm1-oss is
not loaded, should it be loaded, and if so where can I get it from
because it's not with this distribution.

Anthony Azzopardi.
