Check if xmms can play sounds muted. If xmms don't puts any error means
that you can the correct audio module.
Then check if all sound levels are muted (alsamixer).
Check if your modprobe.conf are similar to this one:

Hello,
I'm running kernel 2.4.25, alsa 2.0.4 and the via82xx driver and using
using an 8233 onboard sound chip. Playback works fine. Capture produces
continuous popping with no other recoredsound.
Any ideas. Perhaps I'll take a look at the module parameters.
Thanks

Hi,
My understanding is that this midi interface has been labed as "testing" in
the ALSA supported hardware list for some time now. I currently have a MOTU
Midi Flyer interface I use with an old win95 laptop for midi
sequencing/tracking. I'm considering upgrading to a MOTU midi time piece AV

My understanding is that digital out (S/PDIF) is meant to be used this way:
it sends the raw data out to your receiver, and the

Yes, because I tested recording from TV which works if I start tvtime
and have it use ossdsp.
I checked all devices but I am unable to re
Hi,
Thanks to everyone involved in creating ALSA and the CMI8738 driver
specifically -- I'm having a great time with it. There is just one
snag: I'm having a problem with my CMI8738 sound card's SPDIF output; I
can't seem to change the output volume.
I'm on Fedora Core 1 with ATrpms kernel &
Hi,
I'm using a ens1371 (soundblaster pci128) on a shuttle VIA KT266A based
MB wich obviously includes a via82xx soundchip as well. This is with
debian unstable and pristine linux kernel from kernel.org version
2.6.6-rc1 which already includes alsa.
Most of the time I use the via82xx which is co
Hi,
Just crossed my fingers and tried audacity, no luck, but I think it
means my configuration needs much help because I can only select from

In theory there should be a /dev/dsp2 also because I've a bt878 as well

THANK YOU I loaded up audacity and tried to record following your

Hi ya
Unfortunately It don't help. cat /dev/dsp0 > tst.wav always is 0 bytes.
Is there some other way to record?
Chris
You should (hopefully) be able to record by increasing the level of the
"Analog Mix Capture" channel and the channel(s) you wish to capture. You may
also need to up the "Analo
Hey everyone,
I have huge problems getting my nForce2 chipset to produce any sound.
Got an NF7-S board from Abit and run kernel 2.6.5. I tried with the
kernel-built-in-drivers (1.0.3 I think) and with 1.0.4. I remember
trying with 0.9.8 or something as well back a while but I never got ANY

Hi everybody,
I'm considering to buy three of these cards in
order to install them on my PC (multiple card installation is supported by
EWS88D): I was wondering if this card is fully supported by Alsa.
I checked it on Alsa web site (http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/index.php3?vendor=ve

Current situation:
I have a working alsa setup wich can play surround on 5.1 boxes.
(emu10k1 drivers from the 2.6 kernel on debian)
The problem:
Sound from the line-in only plays on the front speakers.
I want a copy of this sound to the back speakers.
I've searched google on this and have found dif
