Jaroslav,
With alsa-driver-1.0.0rc2, I run into the following compilation error
(which I have also seen posted by some others on this list):
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -DMODULE=1 -I/usr/src/redhat/BUILD/alsa-driver-1.0.0rc2/include
-I/lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2129.nptl/build/include -O2 -mpreferred-stack-boun

I have been trying to install this version of alsa from source. After I make
and make install the driver, lib, utilities I cannot use the alsamixer of
other utilities. It looks like that the /dev/snd/* is missing.
I read the INSTALL instruction from the source, it said I need to run the

I recently bought a centrino notebook with a onboard intel sound-chip (details
see below this message). A few questions:
Is it possible to have the pc speaker enabled? As soon as the driver is
loaded, the pc speaker becomes silent since it also runs over the internal

Hi !
I've got big problems with my audigy (version 1) under SUSE 9.0 and alsa
version 1.0rc2.
A Logitech X-620 (incl. 6 boxes and a subwoofer) is connected to the
audigy.
I nearly always hear crackling in my loud speakers.
This problem occurs with a different set of loud speakers as well.

Hi,
I first patched the kernel by using the patch from www.kernel.org
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/snapshots/old/patch-2.6.0-bk3.gz
and then I tried to patch the kernel by using the patch from ALSA's ftp s

I've a small issue with my soundcard: I'm no able to hear anything from rear
speakers, no matter how I set alsamixer. Center, subwoofer and front speakers
works, but wit loose correspondence with alsamixer controls. (I've checked
cables, of course, but I can't check with other OS'es)
I've google

The first thing to note is that appears to be working just fine (tested with
CD player). I'd just like to clean up these errors
Hi,
i played around with seq24 and saw that it is one of those old apps that
insist on using hw midi ports and won't polay nice with alsa-patch-bay.
Well then, i thought, the solution to this is to use the virmidi module
which provides a virtual hw midi port [or better: several of them].
Now my

I'm writing in a mood of some frustration, so please bear with me.
All I want to do is transfer a sound-recording from a tape to disk so
that I can edit it, clean it up, and burn it to a CD.
