Dear Julien,
Thanks for the reply. The channels on HDSP do not show up as master, pcm,
line, etc. They show up as Chn,1 Chn,2, ... Chn,18 and I have set all of
them to unity. I do get sound out from channels 1 though 8 through the
analog output, and through the first two digital channels (Chnls 9
Hi!
Try to use alsamixer (it's an ncurses-based mixer). You can directly call it
from the commandline. With cursor right/left you can navigate from device to
device (master, line, pcm...). Check that master, pcm and line are unmuted at
the least. Then check if the volumes are adjusted correctly.
hello list,

Hi,
I am using an RME HDSP running on alsa 0.9.0rc3 (I have tried 0.9.0rc6
but I get intermittent results with getting audio out; his could well be
user error.)

Hello!
I have tried to set up a new device to my system, namely a usb webcam with a
microphone.
I'm not very familiar with how to use kernel modules.
I have browsed some docs etc. but I'm not certain.
The thing is, I have managed to set up the device, it seems.
But I don't get any sound from the m

One thing to check - I suspect xmms does something rather akin to
WinAmp, which buffers a second or so of audio ahead of time. Hence when
you change the equaliser settings, it'll take abo

One idea: make sure you move sideways (or delete) your old
/etc/asound.conf file, since this file now does something totally
different in ALSA 0.9.

Hi!
I've bought a Sony Vaio PCG-GR214EP notebook with an Analog Devices
AD1881A soundcard in it (Sony validated that information), so I tried to
use the snd-intel8x0 driver, following the description on

Hi!
The new cs46xx driver can talk to (up to) 2 codecs on one card now .
You can see duplicate controls because your card uses 2 codecs (CS4297A
and CS4294) for multichannel playback/(recording?). Therefore, e.g. one
master controls your front output, one master controls your surround
outputs a

Hi! I have sb live 5.1. I have alsa 0.90rc6. When I load
snd-emu10k1-synth, load soundfonts(from sblive cd), I can hear some
notes and the sound begins to click and pop, as if the samples are
played on wrong sampling rate.
And what does PCM routing means? How to make for example, mirror front
