I think that if you're using Alsa, then you need to use an Alsa
application. alsaplayer is one, while the old CD Player is not. It's an OSS
app.

As a follow up, the xrun problem is created by the -g option. I
eventually found that I can get alsaplayer to run very nicely using only -f
2048 without the -g option at all. When I add in -g is when I start getting
clicks and xrun issues.

Hi guys. Well, I finally got Alsa compiling properly, and it all goes in
without a single hitch. I install the libraries and utilities, and load the
modules. After all is said and done, any attempt the soundcard makes at
