Looks like your copy of the alsa-lib package is not the same version as

To get 0.9.0beta12 to compile on Debian/Alpha (kernel 2.4.19pre7), I
need the following patch:
diff -Br -b -U 3 -N alsa-driver-0.9.0beta12/include/adriver.h
alsa-driver-0.9.0beta12-alpha/include/adriver.h

Hi,
I am using Redhat 7.2 with the latest updated kernel 2.4.9 from
RH. Since I have upgraded my kernel I have lost my sound. I had
compiled alsa packages previously successfully.
I known that if I have changed my modules I need to recompile the
alsa packages. I does not work. Here is the

When running a stream through 'ogg123' the following error is
displayed.
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:598:(snd_pcm_hw_open) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_PVERSION failed:
Inappropriate ioctl for device
I am not sure if this has something to do with the alsa driver/library
or the OGG vorbis tools. I am running Alsa-0.9.
I just found a page -> http://www.pacujo.nu/marko/linux/compaq700z.html
this has a patch for the OSS/Free drivers and for alsa.
ALSA's fix is a simple one line addition to the ac97 codec file.
this is awesome

Hi,
I'm getting a long list of undefined references when I try to make the
alsa-utils, see attached document. Driver and lib worked fine.
What am I missing?
I'm on a Mandrake 8.2.

Hello!
Does anyone know if there is an auto-detection module in
alsa-0.9.0beta12 like snd-detect.o in alsa-0.5.
Does anyone have a good working configuation for an ews64xl or something
compatble? I would really apreciate that one, because I can't get it
working anyway.
Kindest regards
