[AFMUG] “ADSS”

There’s something driving me nuts lately. In your minds, does the term ADSS apply to *any* non-conducting, self supporting cable? Or does it apply more specifically to an OSP cable a central strength member and a concentric layer of aramid under the jacket? There’s an entire department at our

One example where I know this was an issue was when an Elco we hadn’t dealt with before was given construction drawings identifying a number of loose tube drop cables as “ADSS”. The Elco designed make-ready plans assuming we wanted to attach in the secondary power space. We had to have them go

I suppose they're technically correct, but it does seem like a misuse of the term to me as well. On Saturday, October 19, 2024, Adam Moffett wrote: > There’s something driving me nuts lately. > In your minds, does the term ADSS apply to *any* non-conducting, self supporting cable? Or does it app

Good question. I always presumed it referred to self supporting drops that can be installed using p clamps. In my mind it was that one specific type of aerial fiber drop. Best Regards, Chuck McCown McCown Technology Corporation 8401 N Commerce Dr Lake Point, Utah 84074 801-250-9503 Office

I exclusively use ADSS for my aerial plant. Much easier to put up, and you don't have to deal with strand or lashing. The option for having it in the power space can be nice as well. The attachment hardware is similar to what you use for guy wire dead ends, along with what you show above for straig

It looks like Cambium made a PTP version of the 900 MHz 450, if you can find some, and the dual yagi antennas. Sub 1 GHz isn’t that useful if it’s unlicensed, especially if there’s interference from FHSS smartmeters. And low FSL and goes through foliage means you can see interference from e
