You can use a regular pistol and regular blanks. I bought a lot of
these for my uncle who was the coordinator for track and field in
Hawaii. We just bought regular blanks even thought they had starting
pistols, so you can use them in a regular pistol.

The power hammer should be the right thing. I know the cement and framing guys
use hammers that use .22 blanks.
