Yeah if the upstream box wasn’t checked then the filter wasn’t doing
anything.

Ensure the router has latest firmware is all that could be suggested for
that. I have seen cheap routers be leaky also become hacked by something
called hickvision. Which is usually a dvr or something security related.
Sometimes they will just go bad due to too many surges on the power
supply.
