The Rolling Stones knew back in 1969 that you can't always get

I would want everything to be -48v. (Or all positive but that seems
unlikely). If it's not, then I agree to throwing in a converter.

I’d still use a separate converter….then I can drop in a different Mikrotik
without worrying about whether they’ve changed something on that model. Just
an opinion.

Sounds about right. 48vdc in and 12vdc out.

basically the drop in dc power supplies are just dc-dc isolated converters

The DC PSU in the CCR is floating from my testing as well.

if you feed a tik direct via poe or barrel jack I think it may need to be
isolated, if it's a extra dc psu you bought, I suspect those are isolated
(from my testing)

We opted for 24v out as well and went with Meanwell RSD-200C-24. Input voltage
range is 33.6v to 62.4v, it's isolated as well, and has reverse polarity
protection. So if the wires are backward it just doesn't output anything
instead of letting out the magic smoke, which is nice. I think we paid
99% I bet it something stupidly simple and you have been looking at it so long,
you can’t see it. Happens all of the time even with experienced engineers! 😊

I use the Tycon TP-VRHP-4824 its isolated and I found more mikrotiks
accept 24v than anything else.
Also they make a PW48V-12V85W powersupply for most the rack mount tiks.
