Why Linux?
No, I like Linux, but everyone tell me that AIX is better solutions.

I'm not a Windows expert. AIX v. Linux
Hi All,
I have some question about backup functionality of NetApp (FAS270). We
have TSM server connected to Adic s10k library (2xlto2) and some stg
pool on external storage. All via FC, but we don't use netfree for
backup.
So, my question is - what is preferred method of backup NetApp? We can

Hi,
VMFS and especially VMFS3 is special file system with implemented only
some functions of classic FS, so probably backup using tivoli will
never work, or never work correctly.
Try vmware tools (integrated backup or something like) for tivoli,
maybe this help.

Uh, if You have vmware, it's simple - install linux + tsm client,
create empty disc (for new machine), boot and mount somewhere new FS
connect to tsm, restore into 'somwhere' filesystem, create new
machine, re-connect this FS.
That's all.

And, ofcourse, You must migrate data from tape from aix to windows.

Another solution is setup db copy and after fully synchro remove first
instance of DB.
All via tsm of course.

Which ESX?
On 2.5.x you scholud use older version, up to 5.3.5. New esx release,
above 3.0 (for example 3.0.2) need installed special rpm from vmware
which add needed dependencies (I'm not sure name, but it is easy to
find them).
So - which version of ESX you use?

Does anybody enable crypto functions in TSM? How You encrypt data on

Some of users report problem with integrating VCB and tsm version 5.2.
Another question is why use vcb, when You have excelent tsm client for
quest, especialy with some extra function like full, increment and
other level backup - I still cant understand why use vcb.
