Subject: Is there a way to check past backup totals
Hello all,

Hello; I have some experience with NDMP on a NetApp to Tivoli system. To the
best of my knowledge, NDMP does not support archiving. It supports FULL and
DIFFERENTIAL backups only. Using the TOC I am able to do file level restores
without a problem. Given the limitations on NDMP (no DRM ...), we scr
days. This allows us to have
30 days of backups from any given point. After 60 days everything goes away
on its own. I have rudimentary scripts to automate some of this. Email me if
you wish.

I'm with Wanda on this one. We use the Move Media command to create space

Maybe this can help. I'm a bit vague on this but I seem to remember that
when defining a tape path, do not accept the Win2K name for the device
entry. There is a naming convention that Tivoli uses (mtn.n.n.n).
If you use the Win2K name and move things around, things can go wonky (sorry

this helps.

I have had this problem before. I changed the node password on the server
like you did. Then on the node from the command prompt ran
dsmcutil updatepw /node: /password:.

Hello;
I thought we were the only people on the planet using NDMP. Without knowing
what version of Tivoli/OS/OnTap you are using; TSM v5.2.0.2 supports file
level backup/restore. You have to use a table of contents. This info is
available in the ITSM Administrators Guide v5.2 (chapter 6). Hope thi
ty to
store the cleaner tape in one of the reserved slots thereby freeing up an
extra slot. Hope this helps.
