Chek in /etc/adsm for a directory called "Spaceman". It it exists, remove

Sorry about this. I had asked the workstation owner to try this, and
thought that they had. Apparently not, as virtualmountpoints work just
fine.

I guess my problem is two fold: the index.html file there is out-of-date,
and not knowing/realizing that D0IF_26E.fmrz is newer than D0IE_350.fmrz,
and that D0IF_26E.fmrz is for 3590E's.
I think that was three things!

wonder if I should
also assume that it will talk to the 3494 Changer via TCPIP, like AIX
does via atldd?
Any gotchas/tips/pointers to doc would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All,
Anyone know where IBM is stashing the latest library and drive code?
I have 38D0 on my LTO2 drives, and it has a nasty bug fixed in 3AP0 where
the tape runs off the take-up reel, and the fix is to replace the drive!
Thanks,

is also a shame that the FTP site is so
out-of-date.
Thanks for your reply Jurjen.

t would be a scsi-3494, and
the beginnings of an acceptable replacement for a 3494 with HA frames.
I much perfer the 3494's categories to scsi elements. Sharing is simple
vs. partitioning.

...anyone see any issues with having a dual-ported card, and using one
port for disk access, and the other port for tape? I would think not, but
Mgmt is questioning it...

It works with dsmc also. I don't know about dsm(j), as I never use that.
With dsmj not support "-se=", I find it rather useless in a multi-server
installation.

IBM does have a program where they will pack up your 3590-H's and take
them off your hands free of charge. We deinstalled 12 of them last week,
and could not find any used brokers that wanted them.
At least IBM's program will ensure proper disposal.

n also hasten it via move data and
move nodedata to reorg some of your client data to better collocate
things.
I have told my Mgmt that having primary volumes outside our tape libraries
is an unacceptable situation.

Perhaps marking all the storage pool volumes R/O would do it (just check
for any already R/O volumes first).

What's pinning your log? Do a show logpinned, and then look at what
that client is doing. If it is a TDP, they are known for pinning the
log and causing these kinds of issues.
We see this issue also, and it is nearly always caused by an Oracle TDP
or an Exchange TDP backup.
Thanks,
Steve
Hi
to 5.3.0.12, and our 2.5hr backups.
We need to run 5.4 to stay supported, and a minimum of 5.4.1.2 for the
fix for the security issues in dsmcad, which we use for email restores on
these systems.
Thanks in advance for any insights anyone can provide.

ool, and check
if your VTLpool may be filling during backups, and forcing migration prior
to running the backup in step 1.
Hope this helps.

drop the old devices into a defined state. If you see issues, you

You need to run "checkin libvol" twice, first for scratch tapes, and
then for privates.
