I'm being told by IBM that I need to go to TSM 4.1.1 to upport these. Is
this correct? Is anyone using 3590 K-cartridges on TSM 3.7.x?
Thanks

Check your storage pool and make sure the number of allocated volumes has
not reached the "max scratch volumes" value.

We have started seeing the following failures on HP UX 11.0 incremental
backup. The client is 3.7.2 and the server is on RS/6000 AIX at level 3.7.4.
Anyone ideas what this all indicates? We get the messages as below (a
selection provided here) and the daemon ends.
Thanks

We have installed TSM 4.1 Server and Client code on a newly-built
Sun/Solaris system. The server (+ PTF1) runs fine, but when we try to start
the client code - DSMC or DSMADMC - we get the following error:

All the packages were installed with pkgadd from the same official
Tivoli-supplied 4.1.0 CDROM. I have since tried moving the client code to
4.1.1 (IP22087) with no change. I have now removed the 4.
We are setting up a new server that will be connect to an STK 9740 silo with
9840 drives via ACSLS. The ACSLS server will be 5.3. The TSM server is

We are running ADSM 3.1.2.42 (about to go to 3.7) on RS/6000 under AIX on an
IBM 3466 Network Storage Manager. Yesterday, database utilization reached
95% - 6,002,457 pages used in total - so I added another 5Gb of space.

There is also a problem with Oracle not deleting the backups. This is the
response we received from Oracle support (we are running TSM 3.7.3):

We are having a problem with retrieving a file from TSM archive. Basically,
the retrieve command is issued and we are simply returned to the TSM prompt,

Has anyone successfully moved a TSM server from one platform to another,
copying the database via BACKUP DB and RESTORE DB commands? We are looking
at moving from AIX (RS-6000) to HP (N-Class) in this way, but IBM are
suggesting that this won't work as the TSM database might be
platform-dependent.
Thank you to those who have responded - perhaps a little clarification is
needed from me as to why we are doing this. Our customer has 8 very large
HP-UX boxes being backed up by a a small 3-year old IBM RS/6000 with IBM

Look at your dsmserv.dsk file in /opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin. Is it correct?
Does it have an entry for at least one of your database or recovery volumes?
It only needs one 'cos the one db volume will tell it what the rest are.

We are implementing a new server on HP-UX 11.0. The Language option defaults
to AMENG, but all times in TSM - activity log etc - show as "Mon, Apr 22,
2002 09:28:57 AM". This is most irritating as all the times now split on to
two lines, and I don't really need all this detail. Setting "dateformat
