Anyone heard what is happening with the Exchange agent for TSM?
Got some Exchange admins chomping at the bit here for some word?
Thanks -

Hi All -
I have searched high and low for references in the TSM manual and on the
List server for information regarding the configuration of a devclass for
STK 9840 drives.
I saw mention in the archives to defining the devclass as ECARTRIDGE.
Another of you said that the "Help Define Devclass" sp

Yes. We are currently starting the evaluation of an IBM 3584 Ultrium LTO.
We, like countless others, have exceeded DLT's capacity. So here are some
good things about LTO..
media cost: about $85 each
drive cost: about $11K each
Library cost: Still don't have an exact number to give, but VERY compe
I hope we are not making Del's job a living hell ;-)
Most of us are as tired of these claims as Del is and I must say that I have
no ill will towards Tivoli and their approach to the backup/restore of
Exchange. In all fairness I am always suspicious of other vendors claims
that they have mailbox
Hi Giuseppe -
I wish I had some insight for you but I'm in a similar boat. We have a 3584
Library and Windows 2000, plus a SAN in between and I have yet to be able to
get it to work with TSM 4.1.1.
As you know, the readme was poorly written on the LTO portion. We have been
in contact with an LTO
I have had the exact same issues with an Ultrium 3584.
I'm beginning to believe that it IS magic, unfortunately I did not receive
the top hat, wand and cape with my library!

Well said Wayne!
And another thing... what happened to the BA_DSM.OPT and SA_DSM.OPT template

Is anyone out there backing up Windows 2000 professional clients. We are
looking to migrate to 2000 but there are issues with user privileges to
files and folders.
I have gone through the documentation but have not been able to get TSM to
see a user share. It will only see the default \\localmachi
Ok, I've done quite a few full Netware restores and I have noticed that when
I restore an entire volume, (the volume is empty when I start), I get
messages that state that the file already exists and it is skipping. Now I
don't mean the files that are created when the volume and name space support
Your specific documentation can be created as one or all of the following
files in the \server directory:

RECOVERY.INSTRUCTIONS.OFFSITE
RECOVERY.INSTRUCTIONS.INSTALL
RECOVERY.INSTRUCTIONS.DATABASE
RECOVERY.INSTRUCTIONS.STGPOOL

Can we have more information like:
type of library? Is it Fibre channel or SCSI. If SCSI what kind of Fibre to
SCSI bridge are you using? What kind of switch are
you using... Brocade..Gadzooks, Mcdata. What management software are you
using to configure the switch? HP Openview, Tivoli

We do the second scenario. The real argument embedded here is when to run
the DB backup. Do you run it before of after the copy pools have been
checked out.
(I'd like to assume that you also have DRM, but I won't.). If you do have to
restore in a DR situation you will be using the copypool tapes.
