We are running two AIX TSM servers at 5.1.7.0. - tsm1 and tsm2. They share a
3494 library, and tsm1 is the library master. We plan to upgrade tsm1
initially to 5.2.3.0, and in a few weeks upgrade tsm2. This seems to be a
valid combination with the library master at 5.2.3 and the lib
5.1.5.4 box
but still waiting on some old backup data to expire off.
The combination worked fine for us.

I need to choose a TCPPort number for a second TSM instance. Initially
I was thinking of using 1501, but then I discovered that 1501 is the
default for the TCPCLIENTPORT. But the documentation says that if port
1501 is busy, the scheduler will use another available port.

the ISC. I am almost certain we resolved the problem by using the Admin
Center Support Utility to increase the virtual memory size for the ISC.

We were having the same problem with long duration Exchange backups. We
used the example that Del suggested in a response to the list to run
multiple streams and it has resolved the problem. We are also currently
sending the backups directly to an EMC/CDL.

We restored 178 GB in 7.5 hours. The restore consisted of 1 file that
is 160 GB and 25 files totaling 18 GB. The 160 GB file was on 1 LTO3
tape in a L700 library with a 2 GB fibre connection
