Greetings *SM'ers,
I'm looking for clarification of APAR IC28451. It states that:
"There is no support in the [TDP for Domino] API for the backup set
format. Therefore, backup set data that was backed up via the API
cannot be restored or used."
Does this mean that it's not possible to restore t
the server and from the client machine? Are you trying to restore the
backupset
while it is still assigned to the TSM server? Or are you moving the
backupset volumes
to the local machine and trying it from there?

Many thanks to James & Richard for your input. You got me thinking of
the problem from another angle and here's what I came up with
I created a new policy domain for each Domino server, and defined a
new nodename for each as well. These new policy domains are set to

Hi Thierry,
Our TSM server is an RS/6000 H-50. The clients are both SUN E3500's
with 2GB RAM which access their disk via fibre-channel. If I'm not
mistaken, the backplane on the E3500's is also fibre-channel based,
making it extremely fast. Data is moved between the server and backup
clients o
rarely even an inconvenience for me since our implementation is so
small. Consequently, I'm in no hurry to apply the upgrade for just
one minor improvement (...and then have to figure out how many new
bugs?).

I've found that just by closing the I/O bin after removing the checked
out volumes, I don't get this problem.
Hope this helps!

Hi Terry,
Though we have considerably less data than you, I find myself asking
essentially the same question which I think you're asking (if I've
mis-interpreted anything, please correct me!) -- How do I get a
'snapshot' of all data on a server such that the following
requirements are met?

What I do not understand, is why they did not implement the
Backupsets/Instant Archive to be handled under DRM - just as the DB
backups
and the copy pools are - atleast, that would be something.
My preference would be to have a longer retention for copy pools,
thus, less
time and access spent for t
