Hi TSM-ers!
I'm trying to build an SQL statement to measure expiration performance,
but I'm experiencing an ANRD error. I stripped it down to the
following statement:
select cast(timestampdiff(2,end_time-start_time) as decimal(4,0)) from
summary where activity='EXPIRATION'
As soon as I
Eric,
I can execute the sql without receiving the ANR
I run it on V 6.3.3.0

Hi Ronald!
Thanks for trying! I'm running 6.2.5.0. I just discovered that when I
change 4,0 to 8,0 it works. Looks like a bug to me...

Hello everybody
I have one question for you
I'am installing a new TSM server and i planifing that to migrate the old TSM to
the new
Create new data base on the new server
Create connexion between us
export policy from the old server to the new
export node from the old to the new
My question is
Mickael,
Yes you can, as long as the TSM server levels and platforms (AIX, Windows,
etc.) are the same. For example; you cannot use this process when going from a
version 5 to a version 6 instance.
Make sure to review the doco for the commands as you will may want to use the
replacedefs=yes opt
Rick,
That the problem, we have the old tsm 5.5 server (with lto3 tape library) on
Windows server 2003 and we export this server to the new tsm server 6.3 (with
lto6 tape library) and windows server 2008.
This export can it work in these conditions?
Regards, Mickael.

Mickael:
Take a look at the TSM upgrade guide.
This details the processes for upgrading a 5.x server to 6.x.
It is really more a migration than an upgrade, but essentially, it is a db
export, followed by a db import.
Then you only need to rework your library and stgpool definitions.

Mickael.
Have you thought about doing upgrading the server from 5.5 to 6.3 vrs exporting
all of the nodes?
Depending on the size of your database it might be faster to just upgrade.

Hi everybody
The old server TSM work with LTO3 tape library and the drive are down (on of
them sure but te second was boring too)
The new TSM work with LTO6 tape library and we want to migrate the old to the

Thanks for the reply.

Mickael,
I did 5 servers from Win2003 > Win2008 and it went fine. As others James eluded
to make sure to follow the appropriate upgrade process in the version 6 doco.
My servers had Data Domain as storage versus tape so I shared the DD between
the two servers and performed the "network upgrade p
Mickael,
As off-topic advice; in your other posts you mentioned a LTO tape library. I
haven't checked lately, but when I tested virtual implementation of TSM Server
it was supported but not with a tape library. Not saying it won't work, just
was unsupported.
If that has changed perhaps someone
Rick,
The tape driver was not installed for the moment we just have Windows server
2008 and try to install TSM 6.3.4.

Rick,
I prefer not upgrade the actual TSM server if we hav problem during the upgrade
we lost all the data (the copypool doesn't work we have lost one drive and the
second was tired too it'sfor that we buy a new tape drive and we want to have
new tsm server with him)
Thanks

Sir:
Will the new library and drives read the old lto3 tapes?
If so, do the server upgrade, mark the currently used tapes read-only, then let
reclamation move your data to newer lto6 tapes.
I have done this through three media changes, and it works well.

When you perform the upgrade to a new server the process does not alter the

FWIW, on my recently-upgraded 6.3.4 server, I don't get the ANRD, but the

The fix seems to be to install TSM Server 6.3.4-- which has been out for so
long, I installed it a month ago for unrelated reasons.
Oddly, the list of APARs fixed in 6.3.4 doesn't include IC82487. Presumably
IBM wasn't discussing this APAR until something happened.

We have a number of Version 6 TSM servers running under zSeries Linux.
These were installed with 6.2.2.0 server code and subsequently upgraded
to 6.2.5.0.
We had 'backup stgpool' processes hang one day last week. The hung
processes had to wait a couple of hours for tape drives to become
available
