hello,
i use TSM Flashcopy manager 6.2 for backuping (create snapshot on a storage

basically it works fine, but i have two questions:
1) the name of the FCM created snapshot on the xiv is a random "name"
is it possible to "create/define" a "fix" name (eg: SNAPShot_Month_Y
Good morning,
Can TSM support having two libraries in a single stgpool? Looking to add
another library but would to make sure it is used in tandem with our current
library and not just sit there.
Thank you,

No you can't, it's one devclass in a stgpool and a devclass can only point
to
If the tapes are listed as scratch they are not dedicated to a storage pool
anymore.
But if you want to delete a tape or volume from a storage pool you just tape
"del vol VOLUMENAME"
If you mean it still in Volhistory you can type del volhist type=
volume=x tod=+0 force=yes

Servers are RH Linux 6.2.2.2 and 6.1.4.3
Last week, we had some strange issues (don't ask - this one is for Shark
Tank) with one of our 6.2.2.2 TSM servers, which is one of 2-Library
Managers for our 3494ATL.
So, in the interim we quickly moved the LM function to my 6.1.4.3 server,

Oh, this is too weird.
TSM 5.5.4.2 server on Win2k3.
Just upgraded the client on the same box from 5.5 to 6.2.2 so we can use
SNAPDIFF to back up a Netapp.
Installing the 6.2.2 CLIENT disables the SERVER.
Yep. Didn't think it was possible.

HI Wanda,
apparently the gskit version that comes with the 6.2 client is to new for the
5.5 server. I guess you have two options: run the snapdiff on a different host,
or upgrade the TSM server to 6.2
Be aware that the 6.2 server comes with a 6.1 API, and you must not upgrade
that API
Wanda, what happens if you perform a "Repair" install of the server software
after the client upgrade? Is that even an option? ( Sorry, I don't run TSM
server on Windows. )

Or, if you want to go all-out, use eRMM - see

df
that way, you can have many libraries managed by eRMM. TSM uses the external
library manager capability to have a storage pool cover many libraries.

There is no reason a single library can't have multiple device classes.
If I thought I would ever need to run multiple libraries, I'd be tempted to
create multiple device classes, one per tape storage pool.
Then if it ever became necessary to move a pool to another library, it would be
a simple
Have you done an audit library on the 6.2 server? It almost sounds like
it has a different view of your scratch tapes than the LM does.

Funny you should mention audit.
Why would I do an audit on a server that is a "library client"? I don't
think that is possible.
I tried to do an audit on the now library manager/6.1.4.3 server - both
"checklabel=barcode" and just a simple "audit library". After running for

An audit library run on a library client "claims" all the tapes that the
library manager has that belong to the client. You'll want to use the
checklabel=barcode and run it at a time that tape volumes are not in
use.

Thanks for the info. I did not know that.
I will try to sneak one in. These tape drives and library are busy,

You will need to delete the volhist entries at the old library manager for
all the type "remote" tapes.
I did this recently and loosely based what I did on this:

There is some good information on there, but it might not fi
Interesting read. So basically, since almost everything mounted on a
server other than the old LM was "remote", they all need to be removed
from the volhist on the old LM?
I have again tried running audits on the new LM but it always hangs. I
ran a few on a couple of the LC servers and most ran
The audit on the LM will wait until there is no library activity and there
are no pending tape mount requests and maybe even wait until all drives
are dismounted. I found I need to have everything quiet in order for it
to run.
The alternative is to checkout everything with remove=no and check
