I think you have 1 or 2 more but the default inclexcl is almost the same as

Under what conditions will tsm try to increase the size of the active

The reason I ask is that I got a file system full error in errpt (AIX

Hi Grigori,
thanks for your reply.
However, actually it was my intention to ask about the JBB tools, like
'filemon', 'qfilter'. 'volinfo' and 'dbviewb'. I'm having those tools
available (downloaded from IBM's ftp site) for TSM version 5.4.
Unfortunately I haven't found any JBB tools anymore on IBM
Thanks Zoltan for the information.
Best regards

With the loss of ASR for Win 2008, what are folks doing for BMR of these
machines? Is the loss of ASR a TSM thing or a Microsoft thing? What is
Microsoft recommending for BMR of 2008?

I would like to use them as well, but I haven't seen any for the V6 client.

Usually it's because the archivelog filesystem is full.
In V6, the active log file size in dsmserv.opt is just a starting point, not a
limit.
It's not preformatted in V6.
If the archivelog space fills, V6 just keeps writing to the active log space.

David, if you are not running these machines in a VM I'd recommend using
Microsoft's built-in Backup and Recovery tools for Windows Server 2008. You can
then use TSM to copy the resultant files to tape if you so desire.

That makes senses, except that archivelog is less than 10% full. If
both active log and archivelog were full, don't you get a crashed
system? TSM did not reflect an error.
Too many mysteries. Not enough time.

Hi David,
ASR support for Windows Vista, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 7

Hello,
May I know whether the TDP for Ms SQL 2008 still supports legacy backup?
Thanks

There is no such thing as "TDP for Ms SQL 2008"...
However, the latest version of Data Protection for SQL,
Data Protection for SQL 5.5.5 does support legacy and VSS backups
for SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008, and SQL Server 2008 R2.
Thanks,

We are using VDR backups and VMware snapshots under vSphere.
We are using TBMR from www.cristie.com on standalone servers.

Yes, if both active and archive fill you get a crashed system, unless you just
lucked out and it switched to archivelogoverflow in time, or a long-running
task cleared up and let the active log transactions clear out before you died.
Go figure.

TSM doesn't care whether your copy pool is disk or tape, and TSM doesn't know
how far away it is.
Your recovery procedures don't change.
