A tape-based storage pool is defined just as next pool of backuppool and
archivepool. Can I assign this pool as the destination of some clients, too?
It means that pool would be capable of receiving some nodes' backup data
directly and also be the nextstgpool of other pools?

It certainly is possible, and often implemented in the case of clients
backing up large objects or LANfree clients, providing you have your
management class policies appropriately defined.

Thanks for your input.
I made the recommended change to the dsm.sys and took out the virtual mount
point. I also added an exclude.dir "/public" .
