Hi Richard!
I realize that. We are using a 2.5 Tb. diskpool, so until now there was
no problem directing all backups to this pool. I think I will have to
start using the maximum file size on this pool, but I have to find a
value large enough to let only the really big ones go to tape directly,

Hi,
What is the best practice to backup a tape storage pool? Is is
possible/recommended to use one tape library (with enough drives) for a
storage pool and its copy pool? How about dedicating a tape library to copy
storage pool?
thanks so much

The mailing list archives are the place to look for topics likely to have been

Matthias,
This answer has been posted to ADSM-L less than 1 week ago.
It is always a good idea to search the ADSM-L before asking
a question, many times your answer has already been answered.

Folks,
Richard just emailed me to tell me that the 6.1.3 issues were discussed

Howdy,
The fix-pack 6.1.3.0 was pulled because of APAR IC65409. This is
documented in the flash. Most of the details and such are discussed in the
flash but I'll re-hash a few points here:
* IC65409 applies only to storage pools of DEVTYPE=DISK.
* The patch 6.1.3.1 is finishing test and is

Looking for something that would preview the amount of data if I ran an

gives me what would be included/excluded based on the filespec specified and

Either works, it all depends on what you are trying to achieve.
A Copy pool will help in 2 ways:
1. You have another copy of the data incase of media failure
2. You have a copy of the data incase of Library/DC/Site failure
So if you have you copy pool in the same library as your primary and le

You can find the number of clients by issuing q system or by using a select
statement, for example select count(*) from nodes will tell you how many
nodes you have on your TSM server.

This is not controlled by TSM. You can connect any number of clients, but you
