Hi,
I don't have any access to a Windows Client at this moment with TSM v6.
But it is really easy.
Create a CMD file that is running following command.
regedit /s TSMv6.REG
Now can you start the TSM Client without any problem. But only Command Line.
If you need the GUI you need to add Java to y
When the client is set up for prompted mode backups I thought
there was only an initial entry in dsmsched.log when the
service is started or after a backup has completed.

Hi Everybody,
does anyone know any tools for the migration of the TSM meta data to
another Backup software?
I'm going to replace my TSM servers and have to explain, why I do not
migrate to another software or another OS.
Is there any software that allows to copy the meta data from the TSM-DB

Are you saying you're going to stop using TSM and start using some other
backup software, but that you have a bunch of tapes that you still want to
restore from?
This is generally impossible with any backup software. (There are some
exceptions like Backup Exec -> NetBackup, but they're from the s
We are normally an AIX house for TSM, but the hardware decision has been
made for an implementation in a branch office.
I've used Windows TSM Server and am familiar with it. I've never used a
Linux TSM Server, but would prefer a unix-y TSM Server.
So knowledge and comfort aside, can anyone make

I'm sure in the past I remember seeing a documentation CD available for
download from Passport Advantage with the rest of the TSM downloads. That'll
provide the same Eclipse engine as does the IBM Information Center (and you
can even run it on desktop/laptop and make it work from there with a bit o

I've once implementing TSM Server in RHEL 4. As long as the Tape Library can
run well on Linux, i think it would be just fine runing it on Linux. Based on
my experience compared to TSM Server implemented in pSeries machines, using
Linux platform I don't have much complain about it.

One thing we sow was that Windows Server 2003 x64 had better performance then
Linux, but the major thing was becuase Linux some how had 1 min Start delay
that no one can explain why.
But my major be
