Assuming that you have a valid copy of all data on the copy pool volume
stored in one of your primary pools, it should not. Normally, you would
always have all data in your primary pools; the main exception to this
would be if you had a primary pool tape/disk go bad and you had not yet

Hi,
Is it possible to setup z/OS as a client of TSM server for AIX? The goal is
backing up files as well as DB2 backups from mainframe while TSM server is
installed on AIX. My doubt comes from the different storage standards of
mainframe and open systems such as FICON and Fibre Channel. If yes, is

It depends. It is the TSM API (not the normal TSM backup client) that
receives the data for rman. It
Richard,
I'm mainly concerned about the Offsite volumes. We have a small library
(IBM 3583) and a limited budget, so I was hoping for a simple
work-around to this issue. Never mind - I guess we'll just have to live
with it.

Kindly Help,
I have just finished installing and configuring TSM client 5.4.0.0 and TDP
5.4.1.0 for LAN backup.
I got this error message when I initiate TSM/RMAN backup,

Adrian,
Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you are trying to do, but 'move
nodedata fromstg= ...' is legal. I have
used it several times. My copypool is on an offsite tape library.

Craig, I recommend you take a look at this flash that went out around end
of October last year, to see if it applies:

This client only backs up the Unix Subsystem and not the traditional MVS
datasets. You will not be able to get to the DB2 datasets. Regular MVS
backup tools does not allow individual file restore from the Unix
Subsystem. I have TSM for z/OS, both client and server. The TDP for

The final answer to this question if anyone is interested is that the ISC for
TSM 5.5 (6.x) wont be released for Windows 2008.
The ISC for TSM 6.1 will support TSM 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5 on Windows 2008.
Really annoying gap in server/GUI OS support but I'm not really surprised.

Hi Andy,
I am currently at home so I cannot 100% confirm my compression settings,
but those symptoms read exactly what I am seeing.
Andy thanks for the detail.
These kind of 'features' really start to hurt customers.
Cheers (I think)

All,
This is a question similar to one that was recently posted but never
quite answered:

We mostly use collocation by group for this issue, but we have upon occasion
done as you suggest and have run a selective to consolidate a particular
