The control panel on our TS3500 reports library full with 1408 volumes. 4 are
cleaning cartridges, so there should be 1404 volumes in TSM. But
Select count(volume_name) from libvolumes
Returns 1381, leaving 23 unaccounted for. The Web gui shows no unassigned
volumes, so where are the missing
Yes, but only 2 years after the library was first installed.

Also, make sure you have run a CHECKIN with search=yes and another with
search=BULK.
select * from libvolumes shows the volumes that have been checked in, not

You can try retrieving info via SNMP.
I have used oid's starting with 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.182.
Slots were oid's 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.182.3.7.2.1.11.nnn, with the barcode
returned as the value.
You may need to enable SNMP gets via the Library web interface.
I have not tried this with a TS3500, but with a 358

You can also try the show slots and show library from the
TSM server. Compare what TSM thinks is in the library with what is really in
the library. In my experience, if you've updated the library's physical
configuration without a reboot of the TSM Server, the TSM's library inventory
can becom

And I'll speak from personal experience, and when a UNIX guru of my caliber

Thanks all for your suggestions. The last time we asked the CE about missing
tapes was June, after an incident where 11 returns from offsite disappeared
into the robot. Since then we've upgraded drives, robot firmware, and TSM, and
done only label commands in order to upgrade the returning tap
