Hi *SM-ers!
Could someone help me explain this to one of my customers?
An AIX client shows just one backup available on the TSM server which
was taken a long time ago:

Can we do manual db backup even if i set db backup trigger??Because

Hi Kiran,
Of course, enabling automatic backups of the db by a trigger does not
prevent from ding manual backups. Manual backups (or planned ones) are
still the recommanded way to backup the db. The trigger should only be a
safety valve.
It's not mandatory to define a db backup trigger when y

Look at the "h define dbb", you can only specify a devclass, so a
scratch volume would be used.
(Note that you could choose different devclasses for fulls and
incremental : tape devclass for fulls, and file devclass for
incrementals is the idea...).

Hi Eric,
Possibly you are using virtualmountpoint? Try the "query backup" command
again, using curly braces around the virtualmountpoint name (
/oracle/T02/sapdata2).

As Andy indicates, overlapping filespace naming can result in
perplexing query results. Doing 'dsmc query filespace' will help
uncover such.
Some other possibilities I can think of...

Dear All,
I have been trying to find an official answer from IBM when Data Protection for
Exchange 2007 will be supported on a 64-bit Windows 2008 server.
There is 2008 64-bit support for the BA client, and Exchange 2007 TDP support
for Windows 2003, however I do not see TDP support for Exchange
Data Protection for Exchange is supported on Windows Server 2008 x64 now.
This was added as part of the Data Protection for Exchange 5.5.1 release
Here is the technote showing this:

To be technically correct, NetWare does not support filesystem
journaling--therefore TSM does not, either.

Sorry, but you are "technically" wrong. NSS is a 64bit Journaling file
system.
See here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novell_Storage_Services
The Journalling question at hand, however, is not the file system based
Journaling, as in ext3, or JFS2, or ReiserFS, but TSM client's
Journaling services
I did find out that memoryefficient with diskbasedcache is available,
but I don't see a journaling service.
