Unfortunately, we still have a legacy AIT4/AIT3 requirement. I'm thinking
the best way to go is to upgrade our library to one that supports fibre,
instead of dealing with this fibre-bridge mess

I have TSM server 5.4.3.0 with IBM 3584 Tape library with LTO drives.
I have never used Generate Backupset and decided to do some
testing to see how long it takes to create, for instance.
I am using LTO tape for the backupset, and using one entire
node, not individual filespaces and use toc=no.

You'll need to review your configuration relative to doc APAR IC49875
to see if the effects described pertain to what you have.

I checked both IA64 and x64 packages. Both contain the 5.4.2.3 version of
tsmutil64.dll and dsmcutil.exe.

It is essentially performing a restore. If you're data for that node is
spread out, it will take a long time. I've tested backupsets from VTL
disk to real LTO volumes, and it went extremely fast. See how many
different tapes your node's data is spread out on.

Amazing! I had read in docs about increased performance
if using collocation - and I understand that. I only have
collocation on a few nodes here. But this means
DRAMATIC performance increase?!

Both the ADIC and IBM products were sourced from a company called

Hi,
I'm having a problem trying to delete volumes of type export. I have two TSM
instances and using linrary sharing. The secondary or slave instance is where I
did an export node but it failed because it was missing a volume. I cannot
delete it. I tried using delete volhistory type=export toda
Hello All!
Thanks for your help!!
I am an old UNIX guy doing a Windows 2003 TSM 5.5.1 install.
I have an x3650 system with a TS3310 library (4 x LTO4) and a DS4700
storage array.
When I install the device driver for the library and boot the system, it
comes back with 2 medium changers and 8 dri
Yes, this is a zoning thing and you are seeing the same devices multiple
times.
- I'm not sure about Windows, but in AIX, if you are using the atape
drive, one of the devices is actually the proper one to use for multiple
paths. You just use that one and ignore the others. You should check the
