Hi,
Situation is this.
TSM Server V5.3.2.0 Client V5.3.2.0 both on AIX 5.3
A filesystem was created as "/home/twsprod" and later down the line they
removed that filesystem and settled for twsprod to be part of the file
system /home instead.
Now when running dsmc from /home/twsprod and typing
This is the overlapping filespace name condition. In the client
manual, see "Understanding how files are stored", where you need
braces to explicitly tell TSM which part of the path is the filespace.

Thanks Kelly.
Worked like a charm with your advice.

I had similar issues on a 5.4.0 server (on windows 2003 server). upgrade
to 5.4.3 fixed it. what is your server level ?
try also :
show mmsv
if 71 is displayed while no process or session running, then you could
be in that case.
let me know

In the Data Protection for SQL User's Guide, we mention this...

if you are still running with SQL Server 2000,
there are additional requirements:
SQL Server 2000 must be at Service Pack 4 (or later).

What I have done in the past is just place a hardware service call.

Quoting Andrew Raibeck <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
TSM does not "lock" files per se; however, it does open the files to read
them during backup. It could be that SQL server requires exclusive access
to the file, so if TSM is currently backing it up, SQL server cannot
start.

I´ve found the library firmware...2.10C all right. I´ll try this one.
However, I couldn´t find the firmware for the drives, drivecode level 3434 or

In the absence of any context, my guess would be that the level of
software installed was incompatible with its operating system
environment. I'd recommend reviewing the requirement specified in the
installation material.

I have no answer to your question. But one of the beauties of a VTL is that
you can define additional drives as needed. So why not define as many drives
as you have concurrent sessions?

Actually, you may get better performance out of Windows if you leave off
the GPT. You don't want really large storage pool volumes anyway, so
partitioning it out with 2 TB File systems, would be a good idea. That
would remove another level of complexity, and overhead on the server
itself. The fe

As it is, we have 128 virtual drives, which we thought would be

What I'd reccomend:
1- db backups to remote datacentre, incrementals after major things
2- db snapshots to local datacentre, just to be sure, db snapshots
don't interfere with your db incrementals
3- async mirroring of the db and log storage, for fast recovery and

The recent talk about srdf and dr reminded me of our situation
Layout:
- 2 Datacenters with a routed SAN (90 miles a part)
- TSM DB is on DMX that is setup with SRDF in sync mode to the remote

- The DMX luns are assigned to the AIX host, and formated with JFS2.
- The log volume does share on
I have a customer that has done this successfully with SVC (IBM product)
replication.
The trick I believe is to have the DB and logs in a "consistency group",
which means that SRDF must enforce the correct order of writes.
Here is the TSm doc on what is required:

Check the Redbook (there's a Redbook for just about anything)

That's SG246844, should that link somehow not work. Talks about doing
exactly what you're trying to do.

I thought of this same approach, but it doesn't really address
