OK, it's not beautiful but I would do the following:
M$ offers a tool named MSINFO32 that returns a lot of information about a
server.
You can gather information from a remote server - provided you have enough
rights on
the remote machine.
I got the following - localized - information from one

And what about pSeries with p5 CPUs where you can switch the SMT-feature
on and off (which is the equivalent to ht in Intel-CPus). Does my

Or even better you could use the software tool "ARI"
(AdvancedRemoteInfo).
It has a batch mode to scan a list of servers and export the results as
CSV.
You can scan a list of servers imported from a text file or scan by
IP-range.
The tool can be found at: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/aremoteinfo.h
I'm signed up for "my support", and the last TSM notice I received
included this:
Customers can now provide feedback to Tivoli Development by completing an
assessment survey. Your input can help shape future Tivoli products.

I **think** what might be happening if that since the 2nd node was already
collocated and has data on tape, the backup stg pool is trying to fill the
existing tape with that node's data.

Yikes, when you run a 2.5GB filesystem within 7MB of full, you really
like to live on the edge.
With only 7 MB of wiggle room, I'm thinking that you might be running
into perhaps some differences on the block size of the VX volumes or

Hi Ben,
Personally, I agree - it's a big old shop here, and I don't have any say
on how them there sysadmins and DBA's choose to run their stuff
though... I guess their words will be 'it works in production'.
As for block sizes, I see 'bsize 8192' for both source and target. The

Just poking around on the web, it looks like the "ninode" is the number
of inodes that it pre-allocates for the filesystem. That perhaps is
taking up a little more "invisible" space on the filesystem. Since you
don't really many any for an oracle DB, you might try to re-create the

You're operating with .dbf files, which amount to sparse files, with
all the attendant issues. See "Oracle database factoids" in ADSM
QuickFacts. And, of course, the fundamental problem is a poorly
administered site.

This issue impacts the 5.4.0.0 and 5.4.0.2 versions of the client as well...
And our users do find the message confusing, given that we insist on
10.4.7, based on the documentation provided by IBM...

What would cause a copy storage pool volume mount request for
a copy storage pool relcamation process. I thought the copy storage
pool reclamation process used just the primary storage pool tapes.

This would happen if the copy storage pool volume was in a read-only or
read-write state (as opposed to offsite or unavailable)

Hey gurus,
Do you apply server based cloptsets to your clients, based on OS, to
filter files you know are going to be a problem to backup and/or don't
need to be restored? Can someone share theirs (or point me to an
archive/resource of them? I looked but didn't see anything.) I know

Hi ALL,
I have a server that has two interfaces configured (Two IP addresses as well).
Without using EtherChannel or any redunancy like that, is there a way to tell
the client to use the 2nd interface incase the first one fails.
thanks,
Daad

AFAIK yes ... just point your TCPSERVERADDRESS to working IP address,
it should work /me thinks ...

You didn't specify which OS platform. However, most OSes allow you
to associate an IP address with a NIC via command. We do this in our
TSM server startup script. If one NIC fails, you can just
un-associate it from the dead NIC and re-associate with the other
NIC. No impact to users or DNS tha
