Hi,
I am having problems trying to setup the following and wonder if anyone can
shed some light on this or have done so themselves.
I am backing up a number of SQL Databases. I am not worried about the
sizes, or whuich databases, but only require to do a full backup including
any logs.

You don't mention whether you are using the same nodename or different.
I see that you mention 3 opt files.
I think that the key to this is that you must use 3 different nodenames;
sql_daily, sql_monthly, sql_yearly.
The reason is that if you use the same nodename, the TDP rebinds all

We are running AIX 5.2.0, TSM 5.2.6 server, with a TSM Client 5.3.4 running
on Red Hat version 4.
We seem to be having an issue with Linux sparse files - see description
below. The manual says that TSM will process sparse files - but that is
about it. When the backup hits this file it seems to go
Does anyone have experience with backing up MUMPS style databases? In
particular, I am interested in optimizing backups on InterSystems Cache.

You'll have to examine the scheduler log and possibly the
dsmerror.log to determine why the backup was "unsuccessful".
My cumulative notes on sparse file handling in ADSM QuickFacts may be
helpful. Whereas Unix systems have sparse files, but no file system

I want to run a report once a week. The report is defined and runs at the
designated time but it insists on running once per day. The "Hours covered"
is 168 and it's set to "Repeat every" 7 days. It was originally set to run
daily but I'm having trouble convincing it to nitice the change.

Way back on July 6th, 1993, Gretchen Thiele installed 3M's first ADSM/VM
server (replacing WDSF). Many of you undoubtedly remember Gretchen's
near-evangelical presentations extolling ADSM's virtues at SHARE and
elsewhere. I shut it down yesterday for the last time, having completed the

Have you tried deleting or recreating a new Operational Reporting with new
setting under report instead of modifying existing one?
I had a different problem, where when I first setup I used Windows type for

Interesting,.. If I remembered correctly, this was the year when Alabama
Tide won their last national champ vs Miami Hurricane. Of Course growing
up in Alabama, either you are Bama/or Auburn fan or both. This was a very
exciting year.
I say a proper burial is in order here.

Hi,
I have a client that is trying to encrypt their data on the client side
and then pass the data to the TSM server for backups. I have been
looking into what configuration are needed. They have set their opt
file themselves and I am running test with it now, but I thought I'd
post the questi

Have your client personnel crack open the Windows Backup-Archive
User's Guide manual, which describes all that they need to do. A
vital piece is the Include.Encrypt specification of the data set to
encrypt.

Hi Orville
I looked at this a few years ago now. My employer at that time had a

Richard,
I know there is a part in windows where you can encrypt the files
yourself, but there is also an "ENCRYPTIONType AES128" line to add to
the dsm.opt file also that will do this, Right?
Thanks,
Roger

Hi,
We are facing peculiar problem and request help to resolve it on war-foot

We had a SQL DB running as a back-end to SAP in Win2k cluster. We are able
