Hallo,
I used the Windows Integrated Solutios Console (ISC) to control the
Windows-Backup Server.
It works (not everything) nice :-X .
Now I have a Problem with the Server-Scirpting. I think I make a small
error but I don`t find him.
I have following Skript:

We had a similar problem concerning ACSLS and an SL8500 library.
After troubleshooting by TSM and the SL8500 technicians, we were
instructed to add the following to the dsmserv.opt file:
AcsTimeoutX 15
We restarted TSM and ACSLS and everything ran fine.
BTWWe have to specifiy the CAP in our
Hi Dave,
Thanks for the suggestions!
When I looked up the definition of ACSTIMEOUTX parameter I wasn't exactly
sure how this pertains to an eject for a library? Mine is currently set
to 1 which is the default. So, am I to assume that it only has 600
seconds/10 min. to actually eject the tapes o
Be careful about extrapolating 3590 concepts into other areas...
I have seen no published information to suggest that the 3592 tape
utilizes a Volume Control Region (VCR) as does the 3590. The design
of the 3592 cartridge borrows from the LTO cartridge design in
incorporating a 4 KB Cartridge Me
Yes, I was a little confused myself but I was told that
there was a "bug" in the code that could appear using
the default value. I'm not sure why "15" was used.
Tivoli said that they were working on a "true" fix but
that setting the value to "15" was a workaround for now.

Greetings,
I have a customer running TSM server 5.2.3.2 with SAN Storage Agents at
that same level. It is a TSM library sharing environment with a STKL700
w/9940B drives. We are getting an unusual circumstance on one of our Storage
Agent clients that is backing up a large Oracle database.
Hi folks,
Right now we only backup servers to TSM. We are considering allowing
individuals to use TSM as an archive repository, and the first question
that came up was how to figure out how much space a particular client or
person is using in the archive, so we can send them a bill.
The caveat:
Hi,
Has anyone try to install ITSM BA/API on Gentoo?
I can not even install ITSM on it because I don't have any RPM software.
Try to find rpm2 with no success.
Do I really need to install ITSM on another Linux Server and then make a TAR.GZ
file of it and install ITSM BA client manually?

Yes. The 5.1.5 client works well for me. I have not tried 5.2 or later.

# emerge rpm
# rpm -ivh --force .rp
emerge rpm

Hi,
you can use cpio to copy things out of RPM as well.

Hello,
We want to transfer large Filespaces (> 10 TB) from server to server.
Source and target are both AIX TSM servers, source TSM 5220, target TSM
5320.
These long jobs (more than 30 days) are typical candidates to get
interrupted (Media error, network, disks, other,...) and we had already

Well. I am making some progress in getting these 3592 drives working, but
also having some strange issues.
First off, IBM "lied" about the minimum level of TSM server required for
3592 support. The readme for 5.3.2.1 says that 3592 gen 2 are supported
and while my server was at 5.3.2.2, it would n
Need some help from some Windows gurus out there; this is beyond my level
of Windows AD expertise (which doesn't take much!)
Client is using Windows 2003 AD.
The logon scripts are in the AD SYSVOL directory, which I am told is where
they have to be:
D:\Windows\SYSVOL\domain\scripts

Can someone explain why our M$-SQL TDP backups are not following the
management class retention ?
I am getting complaints that the backups are rolling off much too quickly
and we aren't keeping the proper amount of versions.
The MC is setup as VERSIONS EXIST= NOLIMIT and RETAIN ONLY=30, yet we ar
Zoltan,
What is the RETEXTRA setting?
You should have something like this:
VEREXISTS NOLIMIT
VEREXISTS NOLIMIT
RETEXTRA 30
RETONLY 30
This will keep all inactive backups for 30 days.
Also.. if the management class is not the default,
make sure you have coded the INCLUDE statements

Wanda,
Ah, the joys of integrating TSM with AD!
I'm no AD "expert", but I know the following command allows you to
restore a subset of the systemstate (although Windows is not very happy
about it, and 2003 even less so):
dsmc restore "{SYSTEM STATE}\windows\system32\catroot\*"
c:\Windows\system32\
My error in my email:
VEREXISTS NOLIMIT
RETEXTRA30
VERDELETED 1
RETONLY 60
Yes, this is not the default MC, but the default MC is:
VEREXISTS 8
RETEXTRA30
VERDELETED 1
RETONLY 365
I will double check on the DSM.OPT !

Hello All,
We are backing up Lotus Notes Domino backup directly to a single tape.
Now we added more tape drives. How do I tell client to use two tape drives
instead of one?
You help is appreciated.

Oy. I thought we were in the deep end of the pool for
chargeback. We do chargeback, but we base it on info we can get from
the server side. Specifically, the occupancy table. This will give
you granularity down to the filespace level, but not beyond
that. For what you want to do, you would n

Hi all,
I try do do an point-in-time-restore to the 19-Jul-2006 on a w2k-Server

but I dont see that base-directory. Do I make a pit-recovery 20-Jul-2006
it shows the base-directory as inactive. With a pit-restore from
