William,
(usually) if you don't see processes or sessions using a tape R/O, the
volume is held open just during the mount retention period. But this
doesn't match the current status "IN USE"...
Try to dismount the volumes.
Question 2: Why can't I remove this node?
How can I find out what Objec
Hi there,
I've just upgraded an AIX 5.3 box from 5.3.4.0 to the 5.3.4.3 client.

that it was unable to start dsmagent.
Indeed, dsmagent wouldn't even start from the command line:
$ dsmagent
Could not load program dsmagent:

Paul,
You will need the SQL Server on the alternate machine.
SQL Server backups are simply a stream of bytes.
They are not "files", like Exchange, for example.
At restore time, Data Protection for SQL gives the
"stream of bytes" back to the SQL Server.
The SQL Server knows exactly how to put the d
A couple of days ago, we had a bad tape in one of our drives.
TSM reported the problem and took the drive "off-line"
I removed the tape and brought the drive back "on-line"
But now it shows it's state as being "UNKNOWN" and TSM
is not using it.
Anyone have a solution?
Below is the query result
Thanks Mike,
I tried to dismount after reboot TSM Server, still failed:

- Have you checked the TSM server activity log for any messages related to
the volumes in question?
- Have you visually checked whether the volumes are actually mounted in
those drives?

Thanks Andy.
I did check from TSM activity log, nobody is using it.
I did check from library GUI and tapeutil, those tapes are actually in the
slots not in drives.
I did shutdown TSM Server/Library (TS3310) and restarted Library/TSM Server,
still see those tapes are mounting and "In Use".

Have you restarted or run an inventory on the physical library?

Thanks Andy.
I did check
yes I did reboot the library before.
Just now after I ran the audit library, now it became normal.
Thanks,
William

Hi,
I didn't read the entire thread, but I've been working on a similar issue today.
It turned out to be a storage agent on another server that still thought it had
tapes mounted in the drives. I just stopped the storage agent on each server
followed by a 'query mount' on the TSM server. If t
I am running the following tdpsqlc command and get a parameter missing
error - possibly after /relocate - can anyone point me in the right
direction as to what I may be missing?
I am trying to restore a database from another server to a different
location on this server
tdpsqlc restore Sales
As a working example we use: (restore goes also to another db serever)
tdpsqlc restore ZP1 /tsmoptfile=dsm_restore.opt /tsmnode=s030sql
/fromsqlserver=S030 /INTO=ZQ1 /strip=4 /replace

Hello Wanda,
thanks a lot for your information.
TSM-OR 5.3.3.0 I have downloaded.
I'm still looking for the IBM System Storage Archive Manager, which was
called TSM for Data Retention before.
Thanks again and enjoy summer,
Rainer
