Re: cancelled process waiting around

Matthew, As Richard Sims said, the system may be waiting for a device reply that is never going to occur. If this is indeed the case, then you will probably find that you cannot bounce the tsm server instance - it will have a driver thread in kernel, and will never end - and you can't kill a zomb

Mount point preemption for 'generate backupset'

The "Administrator's Guide" has a section on the rules governing preemption of processes that use mount points. This section turns out to be typical TSM documentation: almost done right. There is no mention of 'generate backupset' commands. Where do 'generate backupset' processes fit into the prior

Look at your network. Those FTP rates are too slow. I can do better than that with 100MB client to Gb TSM server. I can get near 100% 100MB rate - 12,500KB/sec. My GB clients can easily get double that sometimes triple (depends on how many are connected to TSM Server at once. David B. Longo

PASSWORDACCESS=generate is not allowed when using -adsmnode and -adsmpwd. This is a security restriction imposed by the TSM API. To use the new node name with PASSWORDACCESS generate you have to: 1. copy dsm.opt to dsmnew.opt 2. update node name in dsmnew.opt to new node name 3. run: domdsmc q ad
