Matthew,
As Richard Sims said, the system may be waiting for a device reply that is
never going to occur. If this is indeed the case, then you will probably
find that you cannot bounce the tsm server instance - it will have a
driver thread in kernel, and will never end - and you can't kill a zomb

Hi,
You have to update your registry to get this to work.
Give the (modified) command:
dsmcutil update cad /name:"TSM Client Acceptor" /cadschedname:"TSM
Scheduler Service" /autostart:yes
>From your baclient dir.

Hi:
We changed the Lotus client to a new node name, have
passwordaccess=generate in the dsm.opt for the client.
It runs via a scheduled process starting a script.
The script is the same as the previous client, with the new node name
and password.

The "Administrator's Guide" has a section on the rules governing

Hello SMer's

are trying to backup up 800 MB. Currently we have backed up 254 GB in 58

Look at your network. Those FTP rates are too slow. I can do better
than that with 100MB client to Gb TSM server. I can get near 100%
100MB rate - 12,500KB/sec.
My GB clients can easily get double that sometimes triple (depends on how many
are connected to TSM Server at once.

Check the archives for my previous message about TCP settings on the AIX
side. If you haven't tuned them, the defaults just don't work.

PASSWORDACCESS=generate is not allowed when using -adsmnode and -adsmpwd.
This is a security restriction imposed by the TSM API. To use the new
node name with
PASSWORDACCESS generate you have to:
1. copy dsm.opt to dsmnew.opt
2. update node name in dsmnew.opt to new node name
3. run: domdsmc q ad
I would recommend that you look up the settings in the TSM admin reference
(or type HELP DEFINE SCHEDULE from the admin command line). Assuming that
you have done that, if you can let me know what you do not understand, I
will try to explain further.

Thanks. Looks like that did the trick when both node and password were
removed from the
scheduled script.
Different from the MS-SQL API. Such are standards.

I don't think an audit will be necessary here. The drive is "unknown"

Maybe a restartable restore is pending?? Issue Q RESTORE on the server to see.
Or maybe someone else was doing a restore at the same
time you were trying the delete?

Thanks for the suggestions, but no, there are no pending restores nor is
the client accessing the system, other than when we fired up the delete.

Just installed the latest client (5.3.0.12) on a Solaris system. The TSM

Trying to delete individual backups for this client. Using the

Went through the menus (utilities --> delete backup data...). Chose the

Don't just do audit library. Do "audit library lib-name
checklabel=barcode". Otherwise, it will go a long, long time as it loads
every tape into a drive.
