Hi Paul!
Thanks for your suggestion!
I have tried your statement on our test server with just one Oracle node. It
runs half an hour before result are returned. However, when I change "where
node_name in (select node_name from nodes where node_name like '%-ORC')"
into "where node_name='MYORACLENODE'
Hi,
can anyone explain the archive copy group parameters "RETINIT=EVENT" and
"RETMIN=value"? I cannot found a complete documentation (tsm 5.2). The only hint
is the help panel using the web admin interface.

Just running on a hunch - a really good query optimiser would
have been able to do the right thing - but we all have to
remember that TSM is designed first and foremost as a backup
and recovery tool :)

Hi all
Is it possible to download Tivoli Storage Manager for Windows and Tivoli Storage
Manager Client for Windows as a try and buy software?
Thanks for help,

Hi Werner
The packages are located at
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/storage/tivoli-storage-management/
You'll have to download both the maintenance package and the patch package
(located under /maintenance resp /patches) for the TSM server.
For the client, you'll only have to download the patch v
Hello,
Thanks again to all who responded to my
question about the 1501 port.
Can anyone tell me why would a node show In-Progress
and yet there are no sessions active? The Node did not
complete successfully why doesn't it just say missed?
This is happening with a Novell Client but I have seen

What option should I use ...?? I found 2 options to put in the DSM.SYS

Hi Luc,
yes, you should put these to keywords into dsm.sys.
Example:PRESchedulecmd /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/precmd.sh
I use the precmd to backup the system configuration to a flat file using cfg2html.

At least older versions I used seem to have a 30 day builtin try before you
buy on at least the basics.
A VAR could help you out I am sure! If you don't have one, go to IBMs web
page and they will hook you up with a VAR (or at least a sales droid that
can get you some help) in your area.

This is one of my pet hates about TSM.

I have a new tapepool that I only use for a couple of nodes that is using

readonly so I can remove it, even though it is not full? Will TSM then grab
a new tape to use, or will it complain because the "not full" tape is not

I would be better to mark the tape unavailable. If you mark it read-only then TSM
will still try to mount it for restores or reclamation. At times we have need to
checkout primary tapes. When we do this we update vol acc=unav.
