Hi there,
I have TSM (Version 5, Release 1, Level 5.0) installed on W2k SP4
server. Connected to it is IBM 3600-r20 library with ultrium td1 drive.
I'm having a problem which already gives me a headache. It's presented
in the activity log like this :

Hi there.
We will become a second library for our TSM-Server in about 6 weeks and I
have a question:
can I use more than one physical library from one soragepool?
If I can, how do I implement this?
If I can't, what do I have to think about when I move some storagepools to
the new Library? How d

We recently had some connectivity issues between our 3494 ATL and the TSM
AIX 5.2.1.3 server.
After numerous failures, the TSM server issued the message: 5/13/2004
4:00:08 PM ANR8358E Audit operation is required for library 3494ATL.
So, the question is, do I really need to run this AUDIT LIBRARY
First suggestion, clean drives, at least twice. If tapes have ANY
write errors, make them candidates for immediate removal from your
pools. ... Yes it is expensive and frustrating, but it is all Ican
figure out what to do.
I have an older TSM on W2K with 3583-L72 with 6 LTO drives.
Sometimes it
each storage pool def includes a dev class parm, and each dev class has
an entry for a *single* library.

Hi Zoltan!
You should run a AUDIT LIBR 3494ATL CHECKL=B which runs in less than a
minute. I can be cancelled and it will not resume.
Auditing a 3494 causes TSM to re-synchronize it's inventory with the
library's inventory. When you add the CHECKL=B parameter, no tapes will be
mounted, unless a barc

Thank you for the feedback/information.
I must have a messed-up library. I start the audit when I got your
message. It ran about 20 minutes.

Eric seems to have left out one item -- the audit does not run while tapes
are mounted in drives, so you may have been waiting until that last tape
dismounted. At least that's the effect I've seen up through TSM 5.1.6 with
SCSI libraries.

AHA..that explains the delay. Yes, I did have a tape mounted.
Thanks for the enlightenment !
Of course, it would have been nice to get some feedback from the AUDIT
process other than "OK.I finished !!".

I usually run two more commands after the audit library, just on the
off-chance:
1) checkin libv search=yes status=scratch checklabel=barcode
2) checkin libv search=yes status=private checklabel=barcode
These will find any 'lost' tapes and re-assign them to the scratch pool or

I upgraded my Windows TSM server from 5.1.5.2 to 5.2.2.3. Along the way
I didn't stop to uninstall the TSM Server licenses package for 5.1.5.
Now I cannot update my license information for the TSM server.

You need to rename the I believe adsmlic.dll file.

Hey guys and gals, quick question.
My Windows TSM server system disk died and I just got it back up with Tivoli
installed.
The database volumes where on separate disks but the log volumes were on the
system disk that died.
I'm trying to avoid doing a database restore so I reformatted the required

The server was in normal mode Mark. I tried starting the server and it comes
up with the same message that I get when I do a display dbvolume.
ANR9969E Unable to open volume I:\TSMDATA\DBV2.DBV 10240. The most likely
reason is that another TSM server is running and has the volume allocated.

Thanks Mark. I called Tivoli support and they told me that even if the
database volumes are valid if you loose the logs their useless and you need
to do a restore anyway so guess what I'm doing? :)
Thanks again,
