I usually put the startup in /etc/rc.local, but you can put it in /etc/inittab (not respawn), or /etc/rc.tcpip. As root, to restart the sched process and detach it: # sh -c "/bin/dsmc sched > /dev/null 2>&1 &" If placing in an rc file, remember to background it '&', probably the inittab as well.
