Hi,
I'm getting "ANS1309W (RC9) requested data is offline" when trying to backup
the IS on excahnge 5.5, using TDP for Exchange 2.2. The DS backs up no
problem. I've previously had media problems with the Server 4.1.2 on SUN,
so have had to manually move exchange LOGS in order to keep the server
Correct, if you have NEVER gone through the ~validate policy~ & ~activate
policy~ you will see an active one listed as $$ACTIVE$$, just a reminder
that you are running with something YOU haven't looked into.
Also if you import a policy from another server, and that policy had an
ACTIVE policy set
After validating and activating the policy set, "ACTIVE" policy set will be
created. Whenever there is a modification to the policy set , it should be
activated to make the changes effective. You can define multiple policy sets
to the domain. However, there can be only one active policy set per domai

Increase your DBBufsize to 256MB. Also with your DB at 77%
utilization , I would increase the DB so your utilizatuion is more
like 50% or 60% at most.

Gary,
You need to consider what's running on the system. In general, TSM
maintenance activities should have a high hit ratio, but new incoming
files will lower the ratio. That's because by definition, a "new" file
does not have a database entry and therefore MUST miss the cache.

Thank you for your information. It is EXTREMELY helpful to know that there
is an APAR out there regarding this issue, and that someone is actively
looking at it. This is the first I've heard that a problem had been
recognized.
Thanks for being on the list and helping out with this stuff!

I've looked through the archives and can't find much.
I've waded through IBM's web sites and can't find specifics...

Good Day,
I wonder if someone could point me in the right direction. There have been some
related emails flying around, but I am not clear completely on how to best do the
following.
We have implemented Tivoli Workload Scheduler (maestro) on AIX, and need to invoke
backups via the command lin
Does someone have a good default exclude list for Windows 2000? Novell 6?
The sustained write rate of a 3590 drive is 15 MB/sec at the head. You
multiply 15 times your compression ratio to get the sustained transfer
rate through you adapter. I have saturated the arbitrated loop (FC-AL) of
a fibre 3590 with DB2 backups (60 MB/sec), but that was highly
compressible data.
Jack,
This is a basic exclude that I have for my Windows system.

I just use the default ones in the dsm.smp file that comes with the

application that is running on system, but basic excludes work well.

My point here was yes, if you have the CPU on the machines to do it. If you
are talking about between a single client and TSM Server, this really only
applies to TDP backups that allow multiple node definitions for the threads.
This is a long complex discussion.
