Hello *SMers,
a few days ago our daily incremental backup on one of our NT clients started
to abort. Only 1/5 of the data objects is backed up. The backup process
terminates somewhere in the middle with a user abort. This can only be seen
in the event log of the NT client. The event log entry is

On TSM 4.1 how do I add licenses for my clients?
I don't have any of the additional services such as HSM.
I purchased licenses for Netware, NT and Unix. How do I register those?
The manual only lists how to register additional services and options, but
nothing on how to register clients.

For me - most annoying is, that you can't sort the output in the Webbrowser.
Because you can't give an "order by" to the Query Commands.
In the GUI, I was used to sort e.g. the Volume-List by Percent Reclaimable, to

its not that clear actually as far as excluding individual files. for ex.
how do you exclude

do you put

Joe - I think you mean /etc/exclude.rootvg. The man pages for mksysb
and savevg show the method, as well as topic "To Back Up Your System"
in the AIX 4.3 doc

Remember - you can't checkin a tape as scratch if TSM has records of data
on it. IE, if the volume is in a storage pool, has an database backup on
it, or other situation where TSM knows the tape is in use. You can,
however, check it in a Private, then check it back out and have the library

Definitely a TSM feature. There is a TSM pub called Trace Facility Guide

Tony,
There are two ways (that I know of) to restore/retrieve to a different
node. Let's call the node you backed up "SOURCE" and the node you want to
restore onto "TARGET"...
1. On node "TARGET", make a copy (not a shortcut) of the GUI icon. Open

Yes indeed. I tried TSM 4.2 on a couple of our Mandrake 8.0 Linux

Reason I m asking is so far I ve only seen instructions for aix, solaris,

I should have added this to my previous question..
If indeed you can backup DB2 hot on the linux platform, how do you compile
the user exit as per the instructions on doing hot backups using TDP? I get

IMHO : there is a " -lApiDS " missing in the command line for cc

but I did not check if the error where from functions of this lib...
