Hi Fellow TSMers, we recently bought a 3583 LTO Scalable Tape Library
and had it connected to a H70 running AIX 4.3.3. The installation and
definition to TSM went well, however, when I tried to backup multiple
clients, the backups occured serially, ie, one after another as TSM
doesn't allow multip
Can someone from Tivoli Support comment on the support for TSM and Windows

Hello All,
I created new management class for SQL and Exchange agents. Do I need to
validate and activate the policy domain from policy sets object or what are
the next steps after creating the new management class?
Thanks,

Currently we have 60 GB of incremental data, to backup daily. Because of not
having enough space on 3570 we have limited the backup to 7 version only.

Hi Zosi.
If you created the new mgmt classes in an existing policy domain, than you
only need to validate and activate the policy set. If you crated the new
mgmt classes within "new" policy domains (respectively), than you need to
first assign a default management class and than validate and
you need to to validate and then activate your policy set

Problem with reinstalling a ghost image is that NT in this ghost image
is installed in the same directory as the one which is on the TSM backup
=> conflicts. That's why the intermediate step of installing NT in a
"temporary" directory is mandatory so you can restore the backed up NT

I have read alot on this list about reducing the database because my
situation is pretty bad. We have a 103 gig database that was 97% used! I
finally was permitted to fix the outrageous retention settings, and got it
down to 50% utilization, but the Maximum Reduction value is still 0

Shawn - One of those issues... Tivoli provided the barely-documented
unload-reload db reorg procedure, but at the same time has
published no information anywhere about TSM database internals an

1. With the RAID 5 at AIX level, should a second, synchronized copy
of DB volumes is required.
This depends your current situation. How important is that the TSM server be
available?
