Hi TSM-ers,
today I tried to restore one of our big NT serves (60G, 45 files)
The restore is quite slow - only a third of the backup speed.
As our TSM server is connected to our 16MB token ring AND to our
155MB ATM backbone I wanted to be sure that the TSM Server is using
the correct connecti

Hi All,
I am new to firewall, and I am going to setup TSM client backup via
firewall,
after reading Apar IC27212 and perform testing on a NT Client and AIX TSM

Hello fellow TSMers,
Recently I have request from a client to backup Business Continuance
Volumes created on a EMC symmetrix device using TSM. The TSM server (
AIX 4.3.3, TSM 3.7.3 ) is attached directly to the EMC through fibre
channel and data switch. A few Queries here :

This may seem like a dumb question but I've got to ask it anyway. I'm trying
to decide if I need to perform "archives" of some data on certain computers.
Some contracts require us to keep data up to 7 years. Unfortunately the
amount of data we've got makes it almost impossible to archive even once
In installing TSM 3.7.0 off the cd on an IBM S70 with PLENTY of space in
/usr (as well as other filesystems) I notice I get a coredump when it gets
to applying the software for the following file set.. Anyone know what the
problem might be here? The S70 is running AIX 4.3.3..
installp: APPLYIN
>tivoli.tsm.server.rte42.config[215]: 15732 Trace/BPT trap(coredump)
Gerald - You indicate that your /usr should not be filling, so that should
not be the cause. Another possibility is that swap space is not
active on your AIX system.
Richard Sims, BU
Gerard, this could be APAR IX89878. If so, it is fixed by various AIX OS
upgrades. Check the levels of these components - if you still have the
problem then support should be able to help you.
bos.mp to 4.3.3.2 (or whatever is the latest)
bos.sysmgt.serv_aid to 4.3.3.1
Paging space was the problem.. for some reason it is inactive.. thanks much!

Hi all,
We would like to checkin some cleaning cartridge to 3494 tape library. We
put in four cleaning cartridges already through I/O station, do we need to
run 'checkin' from TSM to check in them or check in from 3494 workstation?
Or do nothing?
'mtlib -l /dev/lmcp0 -qI -v' shows no cleaning ca
I'll ask a silly question,
We have an AIX TSM 3.7 Server and when I do a "q lic" someone has obviously
done a "reg lic file=*.lic"
How can I unlicense some entries ??
TIA

Tim,
The problem we have is that you cannot un-register a single license

What you can do is delete a file "nodelock" it resides in

We are also converting from ADSM 3.1 to TSM 3.7. Today we are using oracle
SAP R/3 with backint.
Do not know if connect agents or data protection is used at this time. Is
TDP a replacement for
backint or and add-on for TSM 3.7?

TSM is not involved with cleaner cartridges in librari

Does anyone have the newest odbc driver from TSM that they can mail to me or
post on the list?
I am trying to test the Mainstar MonitorPlus. One of their software
requirements is "TSM ODBC version 3.7.2.0 or higher" Is the versioning on
TSM or the ODBC driver? My ODBC driver is currently 3.01.

We are looking to upgrade our SSA storage on our H50. Our current
configuration is 16 x 9GB drives. One the upgrade path is to 16 x 18GB

setting up the filesystems, i.e., a few large ones or several small ones?
Thanks,
Hi Eric,
Try changing SCHEDMODE on your client to polling. That is how we have it set up and it
works fine.
