Not necessarily... if there are FILLING tapes in the pool being reclaimed,
they will be used before calling for a scratch.
My concerns have been just the opposite... we've found that it is very
painful if you run out of scratch tapes!

Filling and Offsite is a special case.
See the Admin Guide section on Reclamation, subsection
Controlling When Reclamation Occurs for Offsite Volumes.

Hope this sparks an idea. To me, everything looks like it should. I
must be missing something obvious.

explain why it turned off.
Then send us "q stg copypool f=d".

Right, that's what I gleaned from the admin guid
ent that the information wouldn't
apply.

This has not been my experience. In fact its quite the opposite.
(I am using 3.7.2 but was on 3.1.2.20 as well.)
I can reclamate onsite-tapepools with one drive and a FILE area.
For offsite-Copypools I change the rec to 20 every weekend and it
reads ever onsite tape to recreate about 20-30 offsi

Hi,
Well, the reason I know reclaim didn't kick off was because I
performed
a "q actlog begind=-1". I didn't see anything in

Hi all,
I have a copy storage pool with 8 offsite volumes. 3 of these volumes
have reached over 40% reclaimable space, so I decided to run a reclaim.
I did this by updating the copy storage pools reclamation threshold to
40.
I expected reclaim to run, but nothing happened at all.
You activity log probably has some revealing messages.
